Taking place at the beautiful outdoor setting of Homeland in Backwell, creativeRoots is a FREE targeted, NHS-funded intervention and Wellbeing Arts programme for 11-15 year olds who find themselves facing barriers to education. Facilitated by Creative Health practitioners, it focuses on raising young people’s aspirations, hopes and confidence, so that they may be inspired to learn, feel safe in groups, return to education, create community, nurture themselves.

creativeRoots has been designed to be a ‘closed’ group running in line with academic terms (and holidays), so that young participants have a consistent and boundaried opportunity to stabilise and feel safe, move through a structured and creative programme of activities, and work towards a celebration that they co-produce at the end. They will have the opportunity to develop hard and soft skills, working side-by-side with artists and other professionals. 

The first cohort ran from September 2025 to February 2026, every Wednesday from 10am-12pm over 18-weeks, culminating in a wonderful celebration event!

What you need to know:


• This is a FREE programme

• We have 10 places available 

• It’ll be a very creative, gentle, unpressurised, and nourishing environment

• We’ll provide all art materials

• Refreshments will be provided

• Reasonable travel costs may be reimbursed 

• There will be 3 terms of 6 sessions, followed by a celebration event
