ART-ease Art on Referral programme was established in 2007, based in Knowle West Healthy Living Centre has been led by Beki for the past 13 years. In 2013, another ART-ease group was added to the programme in response to demand. Referrals come from Social Prescribers, Doctors and Mental Health Professionals. Participants can also self refer.
The group is for people who are experiencing or are vulnerable to isolation and mental health challenges. The sessions are about having ‘time out’, ‘time for you’, and a safe place to gather some resilience to face life's challenges.
Participants attend for 12 weeks, with the option of a further 12 weeks depending on need and circumstances. We have a lovely room, plenty of art materials to discover and explore. No experience is needed as you can not do anything wrong! It's a place to meet other people, be creative in a supportive environment. Tea and biscuits are always available.
Indi Arts
are the follow-on groups from
ART-ease , also based at
Knowle West Health Park. This group enables participants to continue their creative work and develop social connections with more independence.
ART-ease participants have the opportunity to be involved in the wider cultural scene in Bristol with regular visits to
RWA and collaborations with
Arnolfini,
Bristol Museums as well curating exhibitions of their own work.
